Projects

Some of the things I’ve worked on

2009 Designed a team management tool for managing caseloads and built the software to implement it
2007-2009 Designed a generic operations system, to encompass a per-client workflow for service provision. Users are presented with a task-based approach that leads them through decision points and has inbuilt instructions and templated letters at every stage.
2008/9 Converted a static website into a Wordpress CMS-managed site
2008 Used MSAccess to create custom HTML email signatures from our existing user database and push them out to user’s profiles automatically, including the ability to have a global and per-user custom message area for announcements.
2008 Designed a paperwork auditing process and built the software to manage it
March 2007 Converted a spreadsheet-based post-logging/cheque recording process into an Access application, for a London borough Council
January 2006 Improved the internal IT ticket management system with a variety of features including greater automation and reporting, as well as restructuring the support ticket system. As part of the progression towards greater transparency, real-time ticket/project status reports are now published on our corporate intranet.
2005 Wrote customer account management/invoicing application for producing and managing invoices created by downloading B2B sales transactions from the mainframe computer
2004 Designed and built an application for booking deliveries of stock into a distribution centre. The stock information was pulled from the mainframe computer at purchase-order level, and then allowed the users to book the individual items on that PO to individual time slots. This avoided the need to involve mainframe developers yet still develop the core company systems.
2004 Replaced several paper/email based systems with ASP web applications that fed data into SQL Server databases, to facilitate the flow of information and elimate redundant manual processing
2004 Upscaled a bank account reconciliation application to SQL Server from MS Access, re-writing most of the code, and restructuring the tables in the process. I managed to use the same screens, so the users didn’t notice any change, except for increased performance and reliability.
2002-2003 Designed and built a staff management and appraisal system, to include assessments against core competencies with manager signoff
2002 Designed and built a system for managing training, including booking and recording attendance
2001 Designed and built a system for facilities management, including maintenance, stationery orders and general administration
2001-3 Designed, built and modified a monitoring system for providing reports to local authorities according to contractual requirements
2001 Worked with a local authority IT team to automate electronic data transfer from their systems to ours
